The 'Catalogue Free Search' in simple mode allows you to perform a free text search in the metadata fields of all metadata (for all resource types). A search for all words of the entered text is performed, resulting in resources which metadata contain each of the words in the entered text. Note: if you perform a search without any text typed-in, the result will be a list of metadata for all resources in the catalogue.

The 'Catalogue Free Search' in advanced mode allows you to perform a finer search:

You can still enter free text, but by selecting an option under 'How do you want to search', you determine how the search string is interpreted.

• 'For all terms' applies an AND logic and a search for all words of the entered text is performed, resulting in resources which metadata contain each of the words in the entered text. (by default, as in simple mode);
• 'With some of the terms' applies an OR logic and returns all metadata that contain at least one of the words in the search ;
• 'With exact sentence' returns metadata that contain the exact string that you typed-in

By selecting one or more options under 'Where do you want to search', you specify which types of resources you are looking for; by default all options are selected.
